Ghost Test

Since I wanted Amber to appear as a ghost as some points during the piece, I had to work out a way of making a person transparent even if other people are in the scene. But first I started by simply finding out how to make someone see through.

I thought the easiest way to do this was overlap two pieces of video that have the same background.

Using my webcam I took a video that lasted roughly thirty seconds, taking a section where I was not on screen and putting that on the video timeline first, then I simply put the second part over the video as a cutaway, mainly because it had an option where you can adjust the Opacity of the cutaway.

This meant I could make it see through but also keep the same background.

Then I tried the same thing with two people in the same shot, but since I didn't have another person to help me I used a stuffed toy that I perched on the back of my chair.

Because the chair and toy where in the same position the desired effect was achieved and they stayed solid but I turned ghostly.

I don't know how this would turn out when I involve another person though.

But for now the video I made is available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN_Lj3T8UBs
Or if that does not work the video is below.
